IC PRSSA is Thankful For You
Ithaca College’s Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America will be holding candy grams for Ithaca College students to buy for the ones they are thankful for. The candy grams will be sold Monday, Nov. 10 through Friday, Nov. 14 in the Park Lobby from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The candy gram will include a personalized note that any student or faculty will be allowed to fill out. Recipients will receive an email from PRSSA with a notification that they have received a candy gram and when to come pick it up. The prices for candy grams will be one for $1, three for $2 or five for $4.
PRSSA’s executive board rebranded the organization this past semester, by doing so they were able to increase membership and get general body members more involved. The president of the student organization, Dominique Brown, said “we wanted to put a large emphasis on member involvement. This led to the creation of our committees including blogging, social media, newsletter and finally, fundraising.”
The fundraiser committee members worked in groups to develop different fundraising ideas that they eventually pitched to the club. The executive board made the ultimate decision to do the Thanksgiving Candy Grams. All of the committees have worked together to implement the fundraiser that will take place this upcoming week.
Sophomore Andrea Wollin, was asked what it has been like being a part of the fundraising committee. She said, “I really liked brainstorming ideas; I felt that everyone could be heard and all ideas were taken into consideration. The candy grams are a great way to get the whole school involved in the Thanksgiving spirit. It also gives people a chance to give thanks to those that have helped shape their time here at IC.”
