Hello members of PRSSA! My name is Katie O’Hara and I am your new assistant treasurer for the fall semester of 2015. In the spring, I will be taking over as treasurer when Danielle will be studying abroad. I am currently a sophomore Integrated Marketing Communications major, and I have really enjoyed the classes so far! Aside from PRSSA, I am involved in HiFashion Studios, the Leadership Scholar program and Ithaca College’s new chapter of Her Campus.

Going into my first year, I knew that I wanted to pursue a
career in communications or public relations. I saw PRSSA as the perfect opportunity to learn more about the field and meet other students who shared the same interests. I was inspired by how organized and professional the e-board members were both semesters, which motivated me to apply for a leadership position in the club. Despite some hesitation and nerves, I am so glad that I did!

Ultimately, I plan to work in the fashion/beauty industry. My dream job would be working at one of my favorite brands, magazines or a top-notch PR agency. Because I also have a strong passion for social justice, I want to transform fashion into a catalyst for social change. It is very important to acknowledge the negative effects that certain industries have on our society and use any power we have to try to improve them, even if that means changing something that we love.
