The Executive Board is the foundation of the organization. Together, they work as a team to create, plan, and execute the great opportunities IC PRSSA has to offer.

Current Leadership

Philip is a senior Integrated Marketing Communications major with a Legal Studies minor. He is also a Leadership Scholar and a Special Events Manager with Campus Center and Event Services at Ithaca College. This past summer Philip worked as a digital production intern with Deutsch where he worked on securing vendors for an app to be used by over 250,000 employees for internal use and create a pro bono campaign. Summer 2017 he was a production intern for MKG – Experiential Marketing where he worked on a nationwide brand activation tour for Peloton and a Nike women’s product launch. He’s excited for one last semester with PRSSA before studying in ICNYC spring 2019!

Mary is a senior integrated marketing communications major from Scottsville, New York. This past summer, Mary interned at W2O Group, a public relations agency in Boston, MA. While working as an account intern at W2O, Mary worked on the Takeda Oncology pharmaceutical account serving on the patient advocacy team. Outside of PRSSA, Mary serves as Treasurer and Service and Social Justice for the Catholic Community, President of IC Students for Life, and is a member of the Ithaca College Running Club. In her spare time, Mary enjoys making music videos, playing her ukulele and trumpet, making exciting new recipes from Pinterest, and hiking.

Olivia is a junior Culture and Communications and Spanish double major with a concentration in Media Literacy and Education. This past summer, Olivia was the PR intern at Quinn & Hary, A Regan Communications Company, located in southeastern Connecticut. There she ran press conferences, wrote press releases, and helped with everything from media lists to media buys. Outside of PRSSA, Olivia is interning with a media literacy advocacy group called MediaHeads, is part of a research club called Drop Knowledge, is teaching Spanish to local children through an arts and recreation program, and is the TA for various classes. In her spare time, Olivia enjoys traveling, and is planning on spending her spring semester in Sevilla, Spain.

Laura is a sophomore Integrated Marketing Communications major with a minor in Live Event Design and Management from Middletown, New York. This past summer, she did social media strategizing for the nonprofit organization Beautiful People, which builds rubberized sports fields for children with physical disabilities. Outside of PRSSA, Laura is a member of the Ithaca College Club Dance Team, IC Unbound Dance Company, and IC Unites for Her. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, watching The Office, and trying every dairy-free ice cream she can find.

Bethany Edwards, Director of CommunicationsIMG_4440
Bethany is a sophomore Integrated Marketing Communications major with a minor in Legal Studies from Rochester, NY. She plans to complete an internship at a Public Relations firm this upcoming summer, and will be studying in Los Angeles for a semester next school year. Outside of PRSSA, Bethany is a Leadership Scholar and Student Leadership Consultant. Her interests include movies, exercising, exploring Ithaca, and trips to Wegmans.


IMG_4445Sarah Cummings, Director of Promotions                        Sarah is a senior Integrated Marketing Communications major with a minor in Sports Studies. Sarah is originally from a small town in Maine, and now lives in Minnesota with her family. This past summer, Sarah was a Gender Equity Intern at the Tucker Center for Research on Girls and Women in sport in Minneapolis. She spent her time at the Tucker Center working on the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy Graduate Tracking Report which will be released later this fall. In addition to PRSSA, Sarah is the group leader for an on-campus service project called Community Connections and an active member of the Association for Women in Sports Media at Ithaca College. In her free time Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to music, and playing and watching basketball.

PhoebePhoebe Ertel, Director of Events
Phoebe is a Senior Integrated Marketing Communications major from Fairfield, CT. Phoebe is very involved on IC’s campus from being the Director of Events for PRSSA to the President of HiFashion Studios and the Promotional Director of IC Girl Up. Phoebe also works part-time on campus at the IC Bookstore where she helps assist prospective students and families, as well as current students and staff, to guarantee an exceptional experience when shopping in store. She has interned in Public Relations for Time Magazine and S’well Bottle which both provided great experience for learning more about the PR Industry. Phoebe is excited for her fourth year with PRSSA and looks forward to planning Swish for Make a Wish in the Spring.

Lena is a junior Communications, Management & Design major with a concentration in Corporate Communications from Flemington, NJ. Her industry interests include internal communications, corporate public relations and crisis communications. She is currently a Visitor Experience Specialist at Visit Ithaca in the Ithaca and Tompkins County Convention of Visitors Bureau, and this past summer was a communications intern at Kid Care Concierge where she created graphics for social media and wrote blog posts about parenting trends and current events. This past summer, Lena got to explore Ireland and Iceland, and next semester she will be studying abroad in London. In her spare time, Lena enjoys traveling, reading, food, and her two cats.

IMG_4447Tyler Bilodeau, Assistant Treasurer                                   Tyler is a sophomore Integrated Marketing Communications Major at Ithaca College from Camden, ME. Over the summer, Tyler worked at the Samoset Resort, a local resort in his town, where worked as both a phone operator and a front desk agent. During his time at the resort, he learned that he is interested in pursuing a career in either Public Relations or Marketing within the tourism industry. In addition to PRSSA, Tyler is also the secretary of the IC chapter of the American Advertising Federation. In his free time, he loves writing and performing music with his two bands, watching football, watching Seinfeld and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia over and over, and eating great comfort food (especially mac and cheese).

Mariana is a Senior Integrated Marketing Communications major, and an International Business minor. She’s originally from Caracas, Venezuela but now resides in Queensbury, New York. She has interned at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and this past summer she interned at the public relations agency: Pierce Communications. Outside of PRSSA, Mariana works as the Crisis Manager at Campus Center and Event Services and serves as a Brand Ambassador for the company Passport for Good. She loves traveling, and just studied abroad in Barcelona last spring semester.

Faculty Advisor: Arhlene Flowers

Arhlene Flowers, associate professor in Integrated Marketing Communications, has extensive public relations experience on both the agency and corporate sides. Prior to joining Ithaca College in 2006, she held management positions at leading New York City public relations agencies, including Ruder Finn and Hill and Knowlton. She has represented clients on six continents, including a wide range of governments, nonprofits, and public and private companies. She also served as corporate public relations director worldwide at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, based in its Toronto headquarters. She holds a B.A. from New York University and an M.P.S. from the New School. Her research has been published in academic journals and presented at academic conferences. Her book, Global Writing for Public Relations, was published by Routledge in 2016.
